A downloadable coneworks

----

Coneworks is an autonomous swarm simulation — part idle game, part engineering diorama, part emergent AI playground. You watch a lone cube robot wake up in a procedurally generated post-industrial wasteland, collect scattered pixel debris, and haul it home. Then you give it friends. Hundreds. Thousands. A million.

Good luck, Foreman. Go build your swarm!

Next Upcoming Features:

  • Revamp collection, make it more fun and engaging.
  • New research, devices and infrastructure coming!
  • Thinking about improving game intro, explaining debris types and how unit01 fleet scavenges.

Changelog:

  • Initialization v0.8.1 - Imminent release! testing build for anything game breaking.
  • Initialization v0.8 - Bunch of stuff. see the full changelog in the dev blog here.
  • Prototype v0.7 - Introducing Sounds FX, Homebase, Cone, Relay drones Artwork , Worker groups, Made Unit01 now issue commands. Fix bunch of issues. Switched some buttons around. Added More Research Upgrades. (UI Development Up Next, More gameplay loop.)
  • Prototype v0.6 - No sounds, only game play loop. Should be able to clear a  debris sector from start to finish.

Has a handful of issues, but the in-game reporter got a lot of use from me! I really liked it though, and I'm glad you're still working on it!

The biggest issues were:

1. Dismantling yards doesn't lower the yard cost. I relocated, then realized I had 1k capacity, which was far less than the 160k capacity needed to build a yard, meaning I'd softlocked myself

2. Ramps don't seem to work at all. Maybe it just required very late-game research or something, but while I could build ramps, nobody would ever use them!

Thanks for checking it out! I've read a lot of the feedback and these seems to be most game breaking as you noted.

I will offer more explanation why the ramps dont seem to work in-game, because they are supposed to look as piles and not traversable terrain. We will think more how to make it look better and represent Junk Piles.

Ahh, what I was interpreting it as was a harvestable junk pile on an elevated position, so I'd need the ramps to access the higher elevation to clear them out!

Absolutely love the concept and the gameplay loop, although I might suggest once it's further, you add something to mention the requirements for unlocking new things. Additionally, deconstructing stations seems to lag the game considerably after unlocking. (Also the cone's AI seems to break if they hafta navigate between two equally-invalid tiles that require going through a junk pile.)

Thanks for checking it out. sure let me fix those, its going to get more complex the further in the next versions.

Edit: Im building a profiler for it so that we can capture these leaks from the bots! it will take time so hopefully I can capture the lag and play it on my laptop.
